THERE IS FURTHER RESEARCH TO DO - The baptism of Anthony Abell has not been found, and was most likely in the missing earlier registers for Yaxham, along with that of his wife, Anne Branch. There is a will still to be read for John Abell of Yaxham dated 1670 ANF f.101 no.143. There are also wills for two William Abells, one dated 1647/48 ANF no 86, and the other dated 1599 NCC 176. A John Abell of Yaxham left a will in 1630 ANF 137.

The ANF 1647 will of William Abell, yeoman of Yaxham, has been looked at. William Abell left money to the poor of Yaxham. He bequeathed his son, William Abell, his newly built cottage in Yaxham. William was to pay money to granddaughters Mary and Elizabeth Robinson, the daughters of Thomas Robinson. Son John Abell was left a messuage and land but was to give other sons Thomas Abell and Anthony Abell several payments of money. The will is still to be read properly but possibly William Abell was the grandfather of Anthony Abell at the top of the page, and Anthony's father was one of the four sons mentioned.
