THERE IS FURTHER RESEARCH TO DO - No baptism found, as yet, for Nathaniel Durrant in Suffolk but he may have had connections to Norwich as there were some Nathaniel Durrants born within the right time frame in that city.

Some early Durrants in Norwich appear to have been non conformists. A Nathaniel Durrant, of Norwich, donated £25 to the poor of that congregation of the Old Meeting House in 1705.

He had a son Nathaniel baptised in 1711 at Norwich St Laurence, and son Thomas baptised 1713 at the Octagon Unitarian Chapel who died the same year. In the poll books of 1734 and 1761 the father was a worsted weaver living in the parish of Norwich St. Peter Parmentergate. He married Rebecca Mills in 1708 at Norwich St Martin Coslany. There was an admon. bond written for Nathaniel in 1763, and an earlier Nathaniel wrote a will in 1706. He could have been the grandfather.

DURRANT - According to a surname project based at the University College in London the name of Durrant was an English regional name. This name was found in East Anglia more especially in Norfolk and Suffolk. There were also several persons bearing that name in adjoining Essex.
