THERE IS FURTHER RESEARCH TO DO - In 1622 at St. Michael's church at Coslany, Norwich, a Roger Flower was baptised. There are no parents' names on his baptism. Other baptisms that took place in the parish of St. Michael were Margaret Flowers 1614 no parents listed, Nicholas Flower, son of Nicholas in 1615/16, William Flower, son of Nicholas in 1619, Maude Flower in 1623/24 no parents listed, Sara Flower in 1625 no parents.

Nicholas Flower had a first wife Phebe with whom he had daughters Phebe in 1607 and Sarah in 1610. Wife Phebe was buried in 1613. In June 1614 Nicholas Flower, a dyer, of St. Michael in Coslany, married Margaret Anfer.  She was buried in 1625 two days after the birth of Sarah.

An earlier Nicholas Flower also lived in St. Michael Coslany, Norwich. He left a will dated 1558 and left all to his wife Mary.

At Booton earlier Roger Flower left a will proved in 1608 and written in 1607. He left his property to his four daughters (not named) and his son Peter. (Im. 390). No baptisms found. There was also a John and Agnes Flower at Booton baptising two children.

FLOWER - According to a surname project based at the University College in London the surname of Flower or Flowers is of English origin. This was a name found mainly in central and eastern England. In Norfolk it appears in early records as Flowr or Flowyr. Austin Flowr of Weston All Saints had a will proved in 1473 and Richard Flowyr of Snoryng Magna had one proved in 1493. Robert Flowr, with a connection to Stody, was mentioned in a document dated 1396. Sixteenth century wills are from around the county: Reymeston, Walpole, Great Yarmouth, Mendham (2), and East Harling (2).
