THERE IS FURTHER RESEARCH TO DO - Hunstanton parish registers are missing from 1662 to 1742. There is a marriage in Hunstanton registers of an Edmon Mason and a Hellin Willby on the 20th July 1654 but no sign of any children of this couple in the parish before the 1662 gap. Also in the same year was a marriage of a Cuthbert Mason and Martha Williamson, both of Castle Rising, in King's Lynn, but no children found. This Cuthbert Mason looks as if he was perhaps baptised in Holkham in 1633. There are several Masons, and few with the forename of Edmund, in the parish registers for Holkham but there is a gap there in the Mason records between 1643 and 1704.

Mason wills in Hunstanton: William Mason 1758, mentions daughters, Mary wife of Thomas Foster and Susanna wife of William Hopper, and a son William.

William Mason, yeoman 1764, mentions wife Mary and children William, Amy wife of John Woodrow, Robert, John and Austin, the last three were minors.

Mary Mason 1769 mentions children John, Augustine and Edward, all minors.

There are administrations for: Robert Mason 1748/1751 and William Mason 1774.

Interestingly there was a Cuthbert Granger, a blacksmith, who left a will in 1602 and another Cuthbert Granger left one in 1693. Could Thomas Mason, senior's wife have been Elizabeth Granger hence a child named Cuthbert? Both these documents are still to be read.
